Starring Irish actors Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson, In Bruges is an excellent little film that I would unreservedly recommend to anyone.
Farrell and Gleeson play two professional hitmen hiding out in the picturesque medieval city of Bruges after a botched job. Farrell finds the city relentlessly boring, while Gleeson is fascinated by the art and architecture of the ancient historic city.
Blackly comical and incredibly tightly plotted, the film never fails to surprise and delight at every turn. I won’t say too much about it as I really don’t want to spoil it for anyone who hasn’t seen it yet, but it’s a rare gem of a film.
